Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping kids, teens and adults learn how to accept themselves through life's transitions and build coping skills along the way. The majority of my practice focuses on clients dealing with identity development, anxiety, depression, divorce, and life transitions. My approach is best described as conversational and comfortable. I generally use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy models with emphasis on self-actualization, flexibility, and living life according to your individual values. I believe that you deserve to be a confident, independent leader of your own life! I specialize in helping you identify the roots of your problems, and working with you to build coping skills and confidence to address those issues. I take a strengths-based approach and focus empowering you to live according to your personal goals and values. Though I use ACT most often, I am also fully versed in DBT, CBT, and empowerment-focused therapy. Asking for help is often one of the most difficult steps in the healing process. When you feel ready to take that leap, I will attempt to make the transition as easy as possible by walking you through the steps to set up your first appointment via a HIPAA compliant link.

Welcome to my practice. I have about 15 years of clinical experience and have been featured on NBC/KCAL/HLN as an expert psychologist. I work primarily with men who have hit “rock bottom” and would like help getting up. These men are often in crisis when we first meet. The issues I address are typically related to unhealthy sexual behaviors, infidelity, financial recklessness, gambling, drugs/alcohol, dishonesty/lying, and relational conflicts. My therapy approach is a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, and the 12-Step recovery model. I also share insight from my own painful but redemptive recovery journey. My goal for each man I work with is to provide hope and support while facilitating the recovery process. This usually requires us to dig deep and figure out why we engage in destructive behaviors. It also requires us to develop a treatment plan that specifically targets the maladaptive behaviors and reduces the chance of relapse. If you are tired of the man you have become and would like help making positive changes, please contact me for a free consultation. I would be more than glad to listen to your situation and answer any questions. 949.607.8758 / DLeav.Psych@gmail.com **Sessions are currently held over Zoom, Facetime, or Phone.**

I'm a registered and board-certified art therapist. Along with art therapy (AT), I also use Photo Therapy, play therapy & sand tray technique. Words alone are not enough to express what you feel. Humans have sensory memories & attach those to emotional responses. This is especially true when individuals are faced with the complex issues of grief, violence, abuse, neglect or coping with a disability. That is why AT needs to become an integral part of the treatment. Art therapy gives you a voice to express a wide range of emotions/experiences & helps you work through conflicts & traumas. (Any age or issues and NO ART SKILLS NEEDED. ) This can further assist in memory recognition, healing and executive brain function. Specialities include: Relationships, Medical Art Therapy, Cancer, Stroke and Dementia support groups, Lifestyle changes, Bereavement/pre-bereavement, Terminal illness, 1st time placement to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) or Assisted Living (ALF), Loss of independence and Corporate team building. Art Therapy is a unique form of art based therapy that allows the client to experience communication with their subconscious thought while using the art work and it's process to find coping mechanisms. No artistic skills are required because it's about the process, not the product.
